Determine
The Type Of Mount You Would Like |
|
| |
Inside
Mount |
| |
Inside
mount blinds are contained within the window casing.
This provides a clean, self-contained look
and doesn't obstruct or detract from any decorative
window molding or trim you may have. |
| |
|
| |
Outside Mount |
| |
Outside
mount blinds are mounted outside the window casing.
This means the blinds are larger than the actual
window. If you would like outside mount blinds,
you must have at least 2" of unobstructed
area above the window casing in order that the
brackets may be installed. In addition,
an outside mount requires a minimum of 1.5"
on each side of the window casing in order to
look right and ensure that outside light is properly
controlled. |

How
To Measure Your Windows |
|
| |
Inside Mount |
| |
To
determine the width, measure your
window at top, middle and bottom (not all window
casings are exactly the same width from top to
bottom). Record the smallest measurement to the
nearest 1/8" as your width. |
|
|
| |
To
determine the height, measure inside your
window casing at left, center and right
(again, not all window casings are exactly the
same height all the way across). Record the largest
measurement to the nearest 1/8" as your height. |
| |
|
| Note:
Don't deduct from your measurements to ensure
proper fit and operation of the blinds. The factory
will automatically make that deduction (inside
mount only). |
| |
| |
For
Inside Mount, Check Your Mounting Depth |
| |
This involves comparing
the depth of your window casing to the depth of
the mounting bracket (which holds the headrail
in place). If your window has only the minimum
mounting depth listed at left, your blinds will
protrude a bit from the window casing. |
|
|
|
If your window has
the depth listed at left for flush mount, your
blinds will be contained within the window casing.
Finally, if you have less than the amount listed
for minimum depth, you must go with outside mount
blinds. |
| |
|
|
Outside Mount |
| |
To
determine the width, measure the entire
window opening at top, middle and bottom, then
take the smallest measurement, rounded to the
nearest 1/8", and add 3" total for overlap.
That represents 1-1/2" for each side. |
| |
|
| |
To
determine the height, measure the entire
window opening at left, center and right, then
take the largest measurement, rounded to the nearest
1/8", and add 3-1/2" for overlap. That
represents 2" at top (which must be free
of any obstructions) and 1-1/2" at bottom.
If you have a protruding window sill, you won't
need to add the additional 1.5” for the bottom
as the blind will rest on the sill itself. |
| |
|
| |
Note:
If you would like to make the window seem larger,
you may add to the overlap measurement as you
wish. If you would like the blinds to "stack"
completely off the window when raised, simply
add to the overlap measurement at the top (see
chart at left, as this will vary according to
the length of the blinds). |
| |
|
| |
Important: The
factory will not make any adjustments on outside
mount blinds or shades in terms of fit or operation.
They will go exactly by the measurements supplied. |
